Ehrenfelser, a unique Riesling/ Sylvaner cross of German origin, is perfectly suited for our Lakeshore microclimate, mimicking its ancestral home on the steep slopes of the Rhine River. Harvested from a stony block in our upper vineyard, the 12-15 year old vines produce low yields with intense stone fruite and orange peel notes. Twenty five per cent of the wine was fermented in stainless steel barrels. Because of the slow/ fast/ slow pattern of fermentation in the barrels, you get different qualities than a tank ferment. There's more richness and body to the wine, and because they protect so well against exposure to oxygen, the flavours remain bring and pristine.
