2017 Block 3 Riesling
Block 3 is one of our favourite blocks because of its age and the interesting flavour profiles it can display. We only watered this block once during the growing season, the driest summer the Okanagan had seen in decades, which is a testament to how deep the roots reach into the ground. The block was harvested using a “threepick” approach, the two latter picks destined for this Platinum Riesling. The second two picks were later than the first, allowing time for the sugars, flavour profile and acidity to develop even more. The wine was fermented in several smaller vessels including neutral oak barrels, a ceramic egg, and a stainless steel tank. By fermenting in smaller vessels, we were able to build some complexity in the aromatics and mouthfeel.
