Description

Desert Ridge, on the western edge of Osoyoos Lake, was created with stones left behind by retreating glaciers. Stony vineyards are extremely rare, and extremely difficult to farm. As the vines struggle and our tools break, we persist. The stones radiate heat back up giving us intensely concentrated Merlot grapes. We know through experience we need to age this wine for18 months in hand selected French barrels, to highlight the intensity of our stoniest vineyard.

Vintage

Above average growing degree days in the spring contributed to an early budbreak. Cooler days and evenings arrived in August, which slowed down the ripening of the grapes and allowed for greater flavour development while retaining freshness and acidity.

100% Merlot

Tasting Notes
This is classic Desert Ridge Merlot with notes of plum, graphite and raspberry on the nose. On the palate, the wine has very good weight and depth with nicely rounded tannins and a long finish with both fresh and dried fruit characters.
